Hokan

About Hokan

Hokan is a gunboat or a river gunboat. This category (Shubetsu) was added to the order for vessels (Kansenrei) on 29 September 1944 by the navay command No.8 (Gunrei No. Kai-8) which entered into force on 1 October 1944. There was Hokan as one of the class (Ruibetsu) in the category of warships (Gunkan) before 1 October 1944. Hasidate was removed from the navy list on 10 July 1944, so that she was not included in this category officially. I, however, put her on this page for convenience of the layout.
