Tokusetsu Sensuibokan

About Tokusetsu-sensuibokan

The IJN called converted submarine tenders "Tokusetsu-sensuibokan". Their task was to engage in the service as a mother ship of Submarines. They had relaxation facilities for submarine crews, maintained and supply the submarines with ammunitions, torpedoes, victualages and water. Seven merchant ships were used as Tokusetsu-sensuibokan between 1937 and 1945.
