About Tokusetsu Unsosen (Zatsuyosen)

The IJN called auxiliary transports "Tokusetsu Unsosen (Zatsuyosen)". Their task was to transport personnel, mails and various military stores. Two hundred thirty four ships were used as Tokusetsu-unsosen (Zatsuyosen) between 1937 and 1945. Shinsho Maru, Choko Maru, Calcutta Maru, Ikuta Maru, Tomitsu Maru, Taiko Maru, Taijin Maru and Kyokko Maru were removed from the navy list before the outbreak of the Pacific War while Kinryu Maru, Katsuragi Maru and Soyo Maru were transferred to the other categories. Sixty four ships were transferred from the other categories during the Pacific War.
